We are a camp for children ages 6 to 12. We ask that our youngest campers have completed kindergarten. Our oldest campers will be entering 7th grade. For over 25 years, Greenfield Summer Day Camp has been providing the community with an affordable camping experience. Camp is hosted and sponsored by the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Greenfield Summer Day Camp is a service of the church, but it does not use a religious-based curriculum.
The camp facilities include an indoor air-conditioned hall and kitchen, outdoor playing field, pavilion and a baseball diamond. Campers will make crafts, play games, swim at the Greenfield Estates pool and take a weekly field trip. A responsible and caring staff ensures that your child will have a great time at camp and a memorable summer vacation!
A weekly tuition of $135 covers all costs of one child to attend camp during normal day camp hours. A discount will be given if you have more than one child attending camp. It will be $235 for 2 campers and $335 for 3 campers. Greenfield Summer Day Camp runs for 10 weeks. Campers must register before the start of camp. Since our camp fills up quickly, campers must pre-register to attend Greenfield Summer Day Camp on a weekly basis. To assure that adequate staff is scheduled and enough supplies are bought, full payment of the first week's tuition is required in advance. Download a registration form, e-mail at daycamp@GoodShepherdLancaster.org or call 717.330.2154 with any questions.

Q: Can I get a multi-child discount?
A: Yes, we do offer a multi-child discount at Greenfield Summer Day Camp. For one child, the tuition price is $135/week. With more than one child attending camp, the rate becomes $235 for 2, $335 for 3, and so on.
Q: How does before and aftercare work?
A: Our doors open every day at 7:00am and close at 5:30pm. If you need to drop your camper off or pick them up before/after the regular camp hours of 9:00-3:30, then you would utilize our before and after care. You will sign in and we will mark the time that your camper is dropped off. The cost is extra (on top of tuition). It is $2.00 for every half hour at camp before or after hours per child. We will add up your total at the end of each week. Extra Hours payments are due the Monday after the week attended.
Q: What is the age group of the campers and are they separated by ages?
A: At Greenfield Summer Day Camp, our youngest camper has just completed Kindergarten, and our oldest, sixth grade. Because we do not have a huge group, or space, we do not separate by ages. We do most activities as a large group, unless it calls for separated ages.
Q: What qualifications does the staff have?
A: All of our staff members have their proper clearances, and are all CPR/AED and First Aid certified. Combined, our staff has over 40 years of summer camp experience.
Q: Is lunch provided?
A: We do not provide lunches for campers. They must bring a packed lunch with them every day. We do not refridgerate or heat lunches.
Q: Do I need to notify the counselors if I am going to be using extra hours at all?
A: Since we have staff here at all times, you do not need to let us know ahead of time that you will be utilizing extra hours.
Q: Can my child bring electronic devices to camp?
A: We do not allow any electronic devices to be brought to camp. If your child would need to bring them for a specific reason, you will need to talk to the Director, and it will be held by the counselors until the camper leaves for the day.
Q: I only need childcare for 3 days of the week. Do I get a discount?
A: We do not offer a per day tuition rate. Our rate is a flat $135/child no matter how many days the child attends camp.
Q: When is tuition due?
A: Tuition is due every Monday, the week before your child is planned to attend. For example, week 2 tuition is due on the first day of camp. By paying early, this ensures that your child will be coming as planned.
Q: Where is the majority of your time spent?
A: We spend as much time as possible outside on the grounds of the church. When we are not outside, our time is spent in our camp room.
Q: I need Financial Aid, where can I get it?
A: Greenfield offers a Financial Aid Scholarship program that helps families send their children to camp who cannot afford regular tuition. In order to be eligible and receive Financial Aid, you must request an application from the Director. You will need to fill out an application for each child you are requesting aid for, and send it back to the church by the deadline on the top of the application. Filling out an application does not guarantee that you will receive Financial Aid. We do our best to help any and all families, but it is based on need. Financial Aid is not free tuition, you will be responsible for at least half of the regular tuition rate.
Q: Is there a deadline for my child to register for camp?
A: We do not have a specific deadline to register for any week of camp, but it is recommended to send in your registration as soon as possible. We do fill up quickly.
Q: Can I add or change weeks during the summer?
A: Adding and changing weeks of camp is based on availability. Requests to change weeks will be considered on a case by case basis and must be submitted in writing at least 2 weeks prior to the start of camp.
Q: Can I drop weeks during the summer?
A: Cancellations and no-shows make it difficult to fill a vacancy from the waiting list. We ask that you request to use another week of camp to replace the week you wish to cancel.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: To keep costs low, families are expected to fulfill their payment obligations You will be expected to pay for any unused weeks of camp.
Q: How do you handle medication administration?
A: All medications are secured in a lockbox on site and taken with us on field trips and pool trips. A staff member will attend the child while medication is administered to ensure the proper dosage is given and complete a medication log.
Q: What does a typical day at Greenfield Summer Day Camp look like?
A: Campers are given a choice of activities in the morning. Arts and crafts, games, gross motor, and quiet centers are offered. Lunch is eaten around 11 a.m. Organized games are encouraged daily. Centers and activities are continued throughout the afternoon.
